I grew up always interested in art, but orginally I wanted to become a dancer.  I danced formally from age 3 to 18.   Impression and Edgar Degas paintings was what got me invested in art in a deeper level.  After doing a project on Impressionism in middle school and then focusing on dance and movement for my concentration for AP art in high school, I slowly focused my purpose here from dance to art.  I studied at the Fine Arts Center in Greenville during high school and then went to Clemson University for a BFA in Visual Art for undergrad. It was at Clemson where I learned ceramics and printmaking and really transformed from somebody who appreciated art and like to make art, to artist to throws pots and makes prints and is truly invested in the art making process.  At Clemson I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy where we traveled to many museums studying art history and went to the 2007 Venice Bienalle.  I am currently getting my Master's of Art in Teaching at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC.  It has been a big change from living in South Carolina. Studying the importance of teaching art to others and how art is essential to the human experience is important to me.  I would like to be an art teacher at the high school level, but I think its still important for me to keep up my studio practice.  While at the Corcoran, I'm continuing taking Ceramics classes to push my own work while taking education classes.  I feel like  I've made a good decision coming to Washington DC and I'm becoming a better artist and art educator.
